I had a Guinea pig when I was young, and he was the best! I wish now that I had enough smarts to best take care of him, but know that I did not - however he was loved, and suffered my cuddles in stoic silence :)

I love how the gnarliest of humans turn into misty-eyed marshmallows when they confess that once upon a time, they too gave their hearts to a small furry friend. Great social leveller, a Guinea pig.

I don't currently have any guinea pigs but we used to and my husband and I are both still very much guinea pig people. There is just something about them. How can a wee furry potato have such personality?
Oh hello, once upon a Fiddle and Pins reader! It's so weird to have abandoned that entire blog enterprise yet for it still to be Out There, roaming the dusty archives of the interwebs, wondering if it'll ever be written in again. I think the combination of the Tobermory Cat debacle, the Pandemic and the death of my Dad kind of did for it. But I loved it, back in the day.

Oh, I know. I had a blog from 2005 to 2013-ish which trailed to an end when I had two children under two, one of whom didn't sleep, and was struggling to get two brain cells to fire in sequence... It was a relatively brief period but I never did get back to the blog!
For what it is worth, my children LOVED The Tobermory Cat and we have pored over all the wonderful details in the pictures. It's one of the ones I put aside for the hypothetical grandchildren. So I'm glad you wrote it, even with all the stress and nonsense that followed.
There could be some political mileage in that, but, but, BUT in defence of cats ( even though they are stone-cold killers) I wince at the thought. I think the Felon Husk has more in common with a slime mould.
